Scientists from India are at VSTU

Scientists from Bangalore (India) visited Volgograd State Technical University today. One of them is an old friend of the polytechnics, Professor Ramasubbu Sunder, research director at the ITW-BISS research and production company, who has repeatedly visited the university. This time, two more scientists came to the university with him: professors of the Indian Institute of Science Jayaram Vikram and Praveen Kumar. The purpose of the current visit to VSTU, which will last several days, is to give lectures and conduct scientific consultations.

The visit to VSTU began with a conversation with the rector of the university, Alexander Navrotskiy. Vice-Rector for International Relations Grigory Boyko introduced the guests, except, of course, Ramasabba Sunder, since Alexander Valentinovich has known this man for a very long time! And it should be noted that our old friend speaks Russian very well, so an interpreter was needed only when Professors Jayaram Vikram and Praveen Kumar joined the conversation.

The host party was very pleased that the guests at the very beginning of the conversation talked about the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people over Nazi Germany, about the selfless heroism of our people in that terrible war. Therefore, it was no coincidence that the first item on their agenda in Volgograd after their conversation with the rector of VSTU was a visit to Mamayev Kurgan and other iconic sites related to the war and the Battle of Stalingrad. Moreover, the university itself is also a significant place, including from a historical perspective regarding the Battle of Volga. A.V. Navrotskiy could not help but mention this. The rector emphasized that the tank installed around the perimeter of VSTU is part of the complex "The Front Line of Stalingrad's Defense" and marks the line where, in 1942, the 62nd and 64th armies held their defenses. And where today flower beds are planted at the entrance to VSTU, remains of a Soviet soldier—one of the many defenders of Stalingrad—were once found beneath one of them.

Next, in the rector's office, there was a thorough, professional, and very productive exchange of opinions regarding further mutually beneficial cooperation in the scientific field. It was discussed that it is time to move on to working on joint scientific projects, establishing close and fruitful communication with scientists from both VSTU and the Indian Institute of Science. It is necessary to start exploring various forms of interaction and scientific collaboration, and to begin working on joint scientific publications. As well as recruiting students, because it is also essential! There are many such interaction points!

Overall, we can note that it was a very lively and positive communication. The parties understood each other perfectly, because true scientists speak the same language — the language of science and mutual understanding.
