Volgograd State Technical University (VSTU) was founded in 1930. Since 1962, the university has been training highly qualified specialists for countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. More than 2,500 university graduates with bachelor's, specialist's, and master's degrees work in 85 countries worldwide. Among them, about 100 people have defended their dissertations for the scientific degree of Candidate of Sciences.

In 1973, a preparatory faculty for foreign citizens was established to prepare them for further study at Russian universities. To date, over 5,000 foreign citizens have completed pre-university training in the following profiles:

According to Order No. 998 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated October 18, 2023, "On approval of requirements for mastering additional general education programs that prepare foreign citizens and stateless persons for mastering professional educational programs in the Russian language," the following profiles and mandatory and additional general education subjects are distinguished:

NATURAL SCIENCE PROFILE:

  • Mandatory subjects: Russian language, mathematics, chemistry, physics
  • Additional subjects: biology, computer science, geography, history;

ENGINEERING/TECHNOLOGICAL PROFILE:

  • Mandatory subjects: Russian language, mathematics, physics, computer science;
  • Additional subjects: chemistry, technical drawing, history, social studies;

ECONOMICS PROFILE:

  • Mandatory subjects: Russian language, history, social studies, mathematics;
  • Additional subjects: computer science, natural science, geography;

MEDICAL-BIOLOGICAL PROFILE:

  • Mandatory subjects: Russian language, biology, chemistry, physics;
  • Additional subjects: mathematics, computer science, social studies, history

Classrooms and residential rooms are located in the same academic building. The building is situated near modern sports facilities.

Faculty graduates who successfully pass final exams in the full preparation program can continue their studies at Volgograd State Technical University or other higher education institutions in the Russian Federation.

Annually, more than 100 graduates of the faculty enroll in VSTU and other Russian universities.
