The anniversary exhibition of paintings "Link of Times" created by Volgograd painter and teacher of the Architecture and Civil Engineering Institute of VSTU Mikhail Tchalov

10.10.2018

Volgograd painter and teacher of the Architecture and Civil Engineering Institute of VSTU Mikhail Tchalov celebrated his 70th anniversary with the personal exhibition of paintings dedicated to the city where he had lived for 40 years. During this period he painted about 70 works, including the pictures about his city - from historical Tsaritsyn and pre-war Stalingrad to modern Volgograd.

The anniversary exhibition of paintings created by the member of the Painters' Union, laureate of the state prizes of Volgograd District and the Hero City Volgograd Mikhail Tchalov is called "Link of Times".

This exhibition opened on the 5th of October in the show-room of the Children's Art School named after V.V. Fedorov (Krasnoznamenskaya Street). The visitors were very interested in the paintings representing the historical past of our city and remarked the artist's special approach. Mikhail Tchalov reconstructs the urban environment of the centuries XIX - XX on the base of the old photos and makes their colorful reflection on his paintings.

Before taking a brush, Mikhail studies the archive papers and then he recreates the lost views of the old city, paying attention to the historical details: churches, streets, squares, Tsaritsyn gardens.

The Rector of VSTU and Academician of RAS Vladimir Lysak sincerely supported the Associate Professor Mikhail Tchalov in his selfless work, popularization of the history of our district and our young people's involvement into the study of the heritage of the city.

Mikhail Tchalov also presented the album-book "Historical reconstruction of Tsaritsyn City (Stalingrad- Volgograd) in painting and graphics on the base of the archive papers".

You can visit the exhibition till the 4th of November on any day except Monday, from 10.00 to 19.00.
