The solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial to Soviet, Russian, and Vietnamese soldiers who gave their lives for peace and stability in the region was attended by Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko, Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Timur Sadykov, Vietnamese veterans, staff of the Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Center, and the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Society. The event also included scientists from VSTU — Head of the Department of CTPE M.A. Vaniev, Associate Professors V.V. Klimov and S.V. Borisov, and postgraduates A.A. Lyubibogov and D.A. Kusakovsky — who are in the country on a work mission as part of the implementation of the Tropical Center's Research and Applied Work Program under two VSTU projects: T-1.1.3 "Development, property investigation, and service life prediction of new elastomeric and composite polymer materials with enhanced resistance to tropical atmosphere and marine environment" (project leader: Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences I.A. Novakov) and T-1.5 "Study of the stability of superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic coatings based on grafted polymethacrylates on metal and polymer surfaces under tropical climate conditions" (project leader: Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.V. Navrotskiy).

The event was dedicated to three important dates in the history of Russia and Vietnam: the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 51st anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country, and the 72nd anniversary of Victory in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu. As the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Vietnam emphasized, these events will forever remain "symbols of courage, resilience, and boundless love for the Motherland."

In accordance with the mission assignment, over three hundred samples were placed for exposure at the climatic stations of Con Zo (Southern Branch of the Tropical Center, Ho Chi Minh City) and Dam Bay (Coastal Branch of the Tropical Center, Nha Trang). These included elastomeric and thermoplastic materials, polymer coatings on metal and wood surfaces, prepared by the research teams of VSTU. The results obtained will be used in the preparation of joint scientific articles and dissertations.
