Representatives of Volgograd, on the eve of International Museum Day (celebrated on May 18), visited the city of Stakhanov in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR), where they presented a triptych "Battle for Rus" to the staff of the local museum. As reported by IA "Vysota 102," the honorary mission to the LNR was carried out by Professor Sergey Matovnikov, Head of the Department of Design and Monumental-Decorative Art of the Institute of Architecture and Construction of Volgograd State Technical University, and Dmitry Shunin, Chairman of the Volgograd branch of the "School of Safety."

"Friendly relations between the Volgograd branch of the All-Russian Children's and Youth Public Movement 'School of Safety' and the city of Stakhanov have been developing since 2022. In 2025, the Department of the Volgograd State Technical University Institute decided to donate the triptych 'Battle for Rus,' painted by Associate Professor of the Department and member of the Union of Artists of Russia Mikhail Chalov, to the Stakhanov City Historical and Art Museum," said Dmitry Shunin. "And this choice was not accidental. After all, this city is known throughout the world thanks to the labor feat of a local resident, after whom the city was later renamed – Alexey Grigorievich Stakhanov."

The residents of the city of Stakhanov also demonstrated personal and labor heroism during the period from 2014 to 2025. In particular, risking their own lives during massive bombings and shelling by Ukrainian nationalists, the staff of the Historical and Art Museum managed to preserve all of their exhibitions.

Volgograd delegates had been preparing for the trip to the LNR since 2025. After coordination with the administration of the city of Stakhanov and the museum's leadership, and approval of the idea to donate the triptych by the Rector of Volgograd State Technical University, Alexander Navrotsky, Sergey Matovnikov was delegated from the university to the LNR. The long-awaited meeting at the museum took place on May 15.

"In a solemn ceremony, the artwork was presented to the museum. The event was attended by representatives of the Stakhanov city administration, veteran organizations (including participants of the Special Military Operation), as well as cadets and museum staff," said the head of the Volgograd "School of Safety."
