VSTU is in top-1000 of the best world universities! For the fourth time the flagship university is included in the ranking THE

Volgograd state technical university has greatly improved its indicators and now is in group 801-1000 among the world universities. For reference, last year our university was in group 1001+.

This group also includes two other universities: Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN university) and Tomsk Polytechnic university. 

It is a great victory and another high achievement of the staff of the flagship university - VSTU. 

And of course Volgograd state technical university is still the only one among other regional universities which is included in the ranking of the best world universities of 2021 and it is on the 14-th place among 48 Russian universities, which are included into the ranking of the best world universities this year.

Moscow state Lomonosov university remains the leader among the Russian universities.

Ranking of the best world universities is a global research and its accompanying ranking of the best world higher educational institutions. The ranking is published annually according to the methods of the British edition Times Higher Education (THE) with the participation of the information group Thomson Reuters and is considered to be one of the most prestigious global university rankings. It was elaborated in 2010 and replaced the popular ranking World University Rankings. Today rankings THE are integrated into the government policy and strategic plans of educational institutions around the whole world. 

Thirteen criteria divided into five groups are used to prepare the ranking. In particular such criteria as citation rate of scientific articles, investment into innovations, income from research activity, quality of teaching, degree of university popularity, in other words its ability to attract the best employees and foreign students, are taken into consideration. 

Moreover, different representatives of the prestigious world ranking have many times visited VSTU. Thus, addressing to the students and scientists of the flagship university in April 2019, brand manager of the rating agency Times Higher Education, Lachin Italmazova (London, the UK) noted positive changes, which took place at VSTU and wished these changes to be continued in the future. After all, the fact that the only one flagship university in the region is represented in Times Higher Education has great influence on the recognition of the university all over the world!
