Once again the data of authoritative ranking Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, which represents the international ranking of the university websites, have been published. The ranking is issued twice a year, at the end of January and at the end of July.
VSTU – flagship technical university has significantly improved its position and today it occupies 46th position (last summer the university was on the 52nd place) and it is still the best result among the higher educational institutions of Volgograd region. Volgograd State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering occupies 222nd position, Kamyshin affiliate of the regional flagship university is on the 517th place, Volzhsky polytechnic institute occupies the 287th position.
Totally the ranking includes 1160 Russian institutions of higher education.
Ranking methodology is based on four indicators: reputation - the number of links from external resources; presence – the number of web pages indexed by Google; superiority – citations of scientific publications based on the analytical data of the scientific group SCImago, and clarity – index which uses information from the university profiles in Google Scholar citations. Each of these indicators has its own weight in the general ranking.
As before Lomonosov Moscow State University is a leader of the ranking, St. Petersburg State university is on the 2nd place and as it was last year National Research University – Higher School of Economics rounds out the leading top three.
