Volgograd State Technical University hits the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018

The results were announced yesterday on the official site of the Times Higher Education Ranking (https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/2018/emerging-economies-university-rankings#!/page/0/length/25/sort_by/rank/sort_order/asc/cols/stats ). Volgograd State Technical University – the only university of the district - has taken 351+ place in the world ranking. It came among 27 Russian universities in the list. Lomonosov Moscow State University is taking up a leading position as expected amongst Russian universities and is on the third place in the list. Overall 11 Russian universities have entered the top 100 of THE Emerging Economies University Rankings.

17 universities present the “Project 5-100”, which aims to help Russian universities to get global and to establish five of them into the ranks of the world’s top 100.

Only two universities of the flagship universities of our country have entered the Ranking: VSTU and Novosibirsk State Technical University.

Phil Baty, THE's editorial director of global rankings and an expert on global higher education, says that the Russian universities have made significant progress in the Ranking and the country has a chance to become a key global player in the field of higher education.

The Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018 includes more than 350 universities from 42 countries across four continents. The number of the ranked universities increased by 50 compared to the last year. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (knowledge transfer).
