The voluntary group of VSTU organized the clean-up of the memorial “Lyudnikov’s Island”

19.04.2018

The voluntary group of VSTU continued the series of the traditional clean-ups yesterday. They cleaned up “Lyudnikov’s Island”, memorial of The Great Patriotic War. This monument is situated in the small town Low Barricades where the 138 Rifle division headed by the colonel Lyudnikov held the line in 1942.

The volunteers have cleaned up the mass graves for 10 years. Here the rebel soldiers of the factory “Barricades” and the signal operators of the 138 Rifle division were buried.

While the students were cleaning the “Lyudnikov’s Island”, the production team of the television program “News. Volgograd” arrived to the place of the clean-up. The volunteers explained why it was important for them to organize the clean-up: they were keeping the memory about the fallen heroes and sharing it with the new generations. Our ancestors defended us and our Motherland with their lives.
