Students of technical university on their internship in Belgium have time not only to work on the projects but also travel a lot

19.04.2019

Students of the second and third year of education, from the department “Automated systems software”, faculty of electronics and computer engineering of the flagship university – Pavel Chechetkin, Victoria Dokuchaeva and Maria Krymova have been staying in Belgium (Geel) at Thomas More Kempen University since February 5, where they undertake their internship within the framework of the program of academic mobility ERASMUS+ KA107 (initiative Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals – mobility for students and teachers|). During the internship the students are involved in Belgian project in the capacity of implementators. This project is aimed at automatisation of the process of holding an opinion poll among people with special needs. And they have already done a lot in this direction.

In their free time students with great pleasure visit European cities. Viktoria Dokuchaeva student of the department “Automated systems software”, faculty of electronics and computer engineering, shares her impressions with us.

The first city Victoria told us about was Antwerp. These are emotions, student has after visiting this city: “Though my acquaintance with this city took place in bad weather, the city gave only positive impressions. Being one of the biggest cities of Belgium, it strikes by its magnificent old-time architecture. The whole city is absolutely beautiful”.

About the city of Bruges: “Those who watched film “In Bruges”, will understand all the charm of our walk. We have visited the main square, climbed the Belfort Tower (83 meters height) and went for a row passing through the canals. It is one of the oldest cities of Europe, which maintained its medieval architecture.

And some words about Brussels: “The capital of Belgium, where command center of the European Union and NATO office are located, where magnificence of the central historical part of the city is adjacent to green parks with abundance of small streets. Brussels looks quite industrial against the background of small cozy cities.

About the city of Ostend: “Not big port city, located on the coast of the North sea. As any sea, it is beautiful and inviting. You want to sit longer on the benches of the quay and think about your life, breathing fresh sea air. But despite the warm climate of the country, you can’t reckon on swimming till summer.

Apart from Belgium, polytechnics have also visited France, the Netherlands and Germany.

And at the end of a small excursion on the sights of some European cities – we would like to quote Victoria Dokuchaeva whose words about the capital of France are like a cherry on top: “Paris is a city of love, cafe, coffee and croissants, cathedrals and palaces, combining the style of French and classic Renaissance. The height of the Eiffel Tower is breathtaking and quay of the Seine invites you to walk along it. Words can’t convey all the beauty of this city!”
