Doors Open Day at VSTU

This Saturday Volgograd State Technical University held Doors Open Day. University’s faculties presented pupils with information that would help them decide on their future profession. Prospective students could find out any information desired about the specialisations offered by VSTU. Vice-rector I.L. Gonik told pupils about University’s history, about how VSTU and VSUACE (Volgograd State university of Architecture and Civil Engineering) were merged to form a flagship university – one of the chosen few in Russia. He also talked about University’s as well as its students’ and graduates’ achievements. Mr. Gonik told the pupils about scholarships and grants that the University has won in the recent years. That includes an EU funded project aimed at highly-qualified specialists training, in order to develop educational programs, that would let students train in the field and receive skills and experience that would meet international standards. In 2017 VSTU was awarded a grant in the «Erasmus+ №573879-EPP-1-2016-1-FREPPKA2-CBHE-JP «InternationaliSation of master Programs In Russia and China in Electrical engineering» (INSPIRE) project. It was also mentioned, that University’s post-graduate students were awarded President’s scholarships for further research in the field of their studies.

The head of the largest enterprise of the region LLC “LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka” Vladimir Vdovin talked briefly about possible employment opportunities for VSTU graduates and underlined that out of 2.200 personnel 926 are this University’s former students.

Deputy director of IACE (former VSUACE) talked about Institute’s current work and objectives, he also mentioned that VSTU’s students are not only studying hard but are also taking an active part in volunteering activities. One of the more notorious ones is them participating in FIFA World Cup 2018 preparations.
